Kaplan Qbank USMLE

This is intended for those who thinks that he/she is almost ready for Step 1 while having good scores with Kaplan Q-bank.
I had Step 1 today and was surprised by items I had while having the test sad :
1. A few pathology
2. Few histology
3. Anatomy almost absent
4. Few questions for Neuroanatomy
5. Few Ethics
5. Too much cell biology and molecular biology
6. Too many diarrhea questions! (electrolite disbalance)
7. Biostatistics - just simple questions with simple formulas.
8 and more important - EXAM QUESTIONS PATTERN WAS DIFFERENT FROM THIS IN KAPLAN Q-BANK (that I used with a good final score) and USMLE easy (if you know what I mean). I know what I`m talking about as I got a good score for Step 2 that I passed before.
Finally I feel like I spent my time (5 months) for nothing....

Hey everyone feels bad after the test. Kaplan questions are very different than the real test, but doing well on them, and maybe more importantly doing well on NBME questions correlates well with your final score. I am always suprised at the number of questions you can miss on the test and still score quite well. You will do well, you'll see!

Best of luck!

I would not say so... I would not say that is due to post-exam depression...
As before exam I used many practice questions: NMS, NBME, Kaplan Q-bank, USMLE easy. And as I got there should have been some usual PATTERN OF QUESTION DISTRIBUTION: mainly pathology, pathophysiology, physiology etc. and a little molecular biology, cell biology. But actually 2/3 exam questions I had - cell biologyand molecular biology.

Hi Blondinka,

Where are you from? I graduated from med. school in Ukraine in 1997, and I got my business degree. I am doing the research for vascular surgery department and studying for the USMLE step 1. What books did you use? What do you think about Kaplan lecture noted and MNS series?

You suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Ihor.

USMLE easy is McGraw Hill product. Free version that was available until May is quite different from the actual test questions. But as I got from my experience at Step 2 if you do well with McGraw questions (Appleton & Lange) you will be great at actual exam. This is not the same for Step 1.
