What are the other functions of mitohondria beside producing ATP and in which cases?

Mitochondria carry out a lot of enzymatic processes.... Like Citric Acid Cycle Beta Oxidation Ketogenesis cholestrol hydrolysis part of porphyrin synthesis part of urea synthesis and may others

Inner Membrane--impermeable to most ions. uses specific transport carriers to go from cytoplasm to matrix. ETC assembly,ATP synthesizing sructure protrudes into matrix. NADH dehy. oxidizing reduction of repiratory chain. Cristae---------foldings of inner membrane that increase surface area. Matrix----------Site of Kreb enzymes,mtDNA,mtRNA,mito.ribosomes, Oxidation of fatty acids , amino acids and pyruvate, 1st two steps of urea cycle.( citrilline can leave matrix Ornithine can enter it) 1st step and last 4 steps in Heme synthesis occur here. NAD, FAD,ADP +Pi Intermembrane Space--Contains enzymes that use ATP that passes out of matrix to phosphorylate other nucleotides Outermembrane--Permeable to most ions. Hope this helps. I welcome comments.

succinate dehydrogenase is present in the inner mitochondrial membrane. it is responsible for the conversion of succinate into fumrate giving off FADH2.
