please will some one help me.have to make an urgent decision and i wonder if it is still possible to match next year and what are my chances if i take my step 2 ck and cs in october.any one know someonme who has done this or how easy it is.
please people give me your views cos i am at a very urgent crossroad right now.thanks in advance.

I'm not going to be able to take the ck until october and the cs in nov probably so it's something that's been worrying me too. But i've asked some people that have been through the process already and they say that a good score in step 1 (which you have) should still allow you to to get a decent number of interviews. Yes, some programs won't schedule interviews until they know all 3 results but there's still many that do. Plus interviews aren't usually until nov/dec so you'll still get your result in time for them. Anyhow that's the info i've collected so far since i've been stressing over whether i should try for this year or not, but i think it's worth a shot. Plus there's always the scramble. Hope that helps.

It would be great if u can make it in september and then u can ofcourse extend the date if u think the prep is not upto the mark. There is much to do apart from giving the steps. So, time is always worthy if u have!

I am in the same boat as you. I second aish's remarks. The best programs usually won't consider you, but there are many many that will. Depends on what you want. If you want to go into private practice in IM or some other noncompetitive specialty, you will be fine.

i contacted a few programs and they told me i can apply on the basis of step 1 score alone but the want all the exams to be passed b4 the match day or begining of the residency. u can ask the programs directly where u r interested.
