amnestic disorders- only memory loss, no cognitive dysfunction delirium- fluctuating course, alertness affectd- thats the key dementia- steady decline in cognitive function, irreversible

Delirium: transient defect of cognition and sensorium (whatever that means). Causes: HIDE = hypoxia, infection, drugs, electrolyte imbalance (from 1st aid/step2) Dementia: Memory loss + 1 of the following: aphasia, apraxia, agnosia, executive function loss

Delirium: acute onset with fluctuations, usually with acute stress. Amnesia: problem with memory Dementia: loss of cognition ( become a child like)
