Is it possible to complete one residency and after that start a new residncy. For example, can someone do internal medicine and then apply for match to general surgery or vice versa?
I have heard people (american graduates) have done that before.. mostly related specialties though
for instance neurology then radiology : neurointerventional
or psychiatry- neurology, pediatrics
can one do a residency in IM or FM then go for a residency in anesthesia? Is it a plus point to do that? Or will it be frowned upon?
Medicare does not fund a second residency something I did not know when I applied to the USA.. so if you really have a passion I would advise you not to go for your back up unless you are ok with doing that for the rest of your life!!!
One can do a residency in Int med and then do Anesthesia- gotta complete only 3 yrs in Anesthesia as one year of IM is taken into consideration. No idea abt FM though.
