Hi,
I would like to ask a question which will be going thru the minds of many IMGs rite now....earlier bbb told us that most residency programmes which offer H1 visas require that you take STEP 3 by December...
Now with the introduction of STEP 2 CS and all the delays in score reporting, Do you think that this deadline will be extended or will they offer H1s only to people who have passed STEP 3 by December...
Most of the IMGs are giving STEP 2 CS in either September or October...which means their results would probably come in by Late November to early December....then after they are ECFMG certified, they apply for STEP 3 which I am sure will not take less than 4 weeks....and then after giving STEP 3...the results wont be announced till Late Jan or early Feb'05.
Do you think we should still go for H1 or stick to J1...??

In my opinion, and as most of people advise here, its better to delay your residency by 1 year than to take J-1.

i think we need step 3 result before match.
and IMO its much better to go for j1 than going unmatched especially if you r here in us or canada.
because there's no guarantee that u 'll get it next year.
and do u personally know anybody from india or pakistan who did residency on J1 and actually went back ?

i know sooooooo many ppl in pak who came back cuz they were on a J1....about 12 faculty members in our college....well ur rite in a way, if u wanna stay there, u can find a way by hook or by crook
