classically, ALT, AST, S/bilirubin (direct, indirect) ALP & GGT are included in LFT

ALT, AST, Albumin,etc. --> Liver function
GGT,ALP --> Bile outflow (inc. in Obstruction)

altogether used to diff. types of Jaundice (pre,post,hepatic) {together with CB+NGB ofcourse}

ALT-(in cytosol)-more specific for liver disease
AST-(mitochondrial enzyme) AST is greater then ALT in Alcoholic liver disease-but enzyme livels are rarely greater then 5 or 6 times normal
In viral hepatitis enzyme levels could be 15 - 20 times normal [U/L]
In obstructive jaundice the AP and GGT are markedly increased
