NBME is best predictor, but not necessarily like the exam.

HYE ,
finally em here to share my 2 cents,i have been waiting this moment 4 so long and wid fear ,would i b able to post here with peaceful thinking and bit nice score ..
EXAM PREP started:may 2007
EXAM date nov 21,2007
RESULT dec 12,2007
score 226/94
overall prep duration 7 month but took break in july wid lots of family stuff and being out of town,then break in october for Holy month ramadan,could read hardly 1 or 2 hr on average,so u can say 5 to 6 month wid average 6 to 7 hr
usmle simulated given at test centre(to reduce anxiety): 88%
UW score:avrege 65% and raised in revision but i dont count it as i did just marked and wrong questions
NBME 2: a real corelator i got" 210 " 10 days before exam,
then did nbme 1 , 3 and 4 downloaded version got around 80 %
so best luck all,never give up and life full of exams so do ur best and leave on ALmighty

Kaplan Qbank 73% (mostly subject-based, untimed; last 300q's random-timed, 100% complete 2 weeks before test)
UW 72% (random, timed, 60% complete, worked on 2 weeks to 2 days before test)
NBME 1 660/250 (11/30)
USMLE CD 47/45/43 (12/3)
real thing: 99/255 (12/13)
score reported on Tues 1/8/08, 11pm CST on NLES site; rec'd email Wed 1/9/08, 8am CST

Got result today, and stoked!!!
Exam taken on 11 Dec.
Score reported 9/Jan/08 = 99/252
UW = 69% 70%completed mid 70s near end.
USMLE Sample questions 1 week before 47,44,44
Kaplan Q book low 60s to start with--->80s at end
Didn't bother with nbme.
Studied for 8 months (evenings) then solid 5 weeks full time
Kaplan review (2002) x2, Kaplan Lecture notes x1 (also 2002), FAx3 (2006)
Supplemented with books recommended by The Rumors Were True. (Pharm, anatomy and also used robbins path (the big one!)
Very average student from at my med school in New Zealand
Thanks to all those people who post there experience and tips.

Kaplan QBank: 65 (completed 100%)
UW: 60 (completed 60%)
NBME 1 (10 days before exam): 530
NBME 2 (3 days before exam): 550
Final Score: 229/95
Note: Questions were my main method of studying, I believe this is why my averages were lower than others. Good luck to the rest of you!

Kaplan 100% completed, I was scoring around 70% at the end
UW around 60%, 100% completed
NBME1, 310/166 I failed 1 month before the exam. SCARY!
NBME2, 440/204 1 week before.
Exam 12/26/07,
Report today 1/16/08: 196/80 I am SO HAPPY!!!
