I will contribute to this thread because it helped me stay calm the last couple of weeks, because my only assessment was UW score which turned out to be a good assessment (taken in mixed unused timed mode) Preparation time 3.5 months (but it took me a year to collect my courage and start) UW (the month prior to exam date): ranging from 58% (first block) - 90% (last block) 73% cumulative, complete, timed mixed unused blocks of 50 no NBMEs no USMLE CD Exam taken on July 18th, score reported on August 8th, and received in mail on August 22nd 99/248

Wooooooooow! I never even imagined a year ago that I could be posting in this thread. My only tip to my successors is not to be overwhelmed by Step 1, it is a totally achievable exam! 1. NBME (Test 1) - 530 2. NBME (test 2) - 570 I took both of them like 4-5 days before my actual exam 3. Kaplan Q-Bank (didn't repeat questions, but did all of them) - 72 4. USMLE World Q-Bank (didn;t repeat questions but did all of them) - 68 (overall). Towards the end my scores were better touching the mid 70s and even reached the 80s sometimes. 5. Kaplan's Q-review CD - high 70s. 6. USMLE CD (that is sent by ECFMG) - average acore for all 3 blocks was 46 (I took it 2 days before my actual exam) 7. Step 1 exam date - 17.07.2007. Score report date - 08.08.2007. I received my score on 22.08.2007. Step 1 score : 240/99 All the best doctors! Your SUCCESS day is near!

THANKS GOD, the day to post in this thread has finally come: USMLE step 1 Score 99/240, PRAISE TO GOD Exam date: 10/8/07, Internet score report date: 29/8/07 USMLE World Score: 73%, 95% done, all unused, mixed and timed. Time spent doing it: 1 month. Kaplan Diagnostic exam, 1 month before the test: 71. USMLE CD, 2 days before the test: 90% correct. USMLE world, is way better than kaplan q bank, do yourselves a favor and buy it. Study resources: Kaplan Videos ( center prep) Kaplan Live lectures, very, very useful, it worth every penny USMLE World Qbank. Thanks to all the people that have posted in this thread, it helped me a lot for the self-assesment, specially to obtain a correlation between my USMLE World score and the actual score you'll get in the exam.

224/91 (study 4 months) Kaplan 3 months 68% Qbook 65-70% usmle cd: 35,40,38 nbme 1: 470(3months bf exam), nbme 2: 560(1week bf exam), Book: First aid only. well, the reason why I write this is to encourage those who only see 99..99..99s in this forum, I'm sure they are the best, but trust me, there are weaker scores exist like me... I would say Q bank was very helpful, the real exam was between Q bank and nbme, many, many basic concept, which I did few of them wrong....so, basic concept is very important, although the exam is clinical based...but what they finally asked is the basic knowledge. I think my biggest mistake is not using Kaplan notes, which I didn't have at the beigininig of my study, and I just prefered to memorize short text vs long ones... overall, the exam was doable, just keep studying...and good luck!!! plz post even you are not 99er...thanks!

24 year-old dominican medical graduate. Average student in med-school, finished with a GPA of 3.1. Exam date: july 26th, 2007 E-score reported: August 16th, 2007 USMLE score: 239/99 -Kaplan Q-Bank Cumulative score: 67% (unused, mixed and timed) % completed: 100% Started 5 months before exam / Finished 2 months before exam -USMLE World Cummulative score: 72% (unused, mixed and timed) Percentile: around 80th-81st % completed: 100% Started 2 months before exam / Finished 1 week before exam -NBME 1: 590/238 (1.5 months before exam) -NBME 2: 640/247 (5 days before exam) -USMLE CD: 45, 43, 46 (89%) [1 week before exam] Study material: Kaplan notes and First Aid (plus a little bit of Goljan for cardio, nephro and nutrition) Real exam was similar in difficulty to USMLE world in 3 blocks, tougher in 2 blocks, and easier (more like kaplan q-bank) in 2 blocks. Regardless of the level of difficulty, the exam in itself "feels" very different from any of the other questions from the Q-banks and nbme's.
