hi guys, im not new here but never wrote anything,,,usually just read and learn from what people have to say,, anyways, im taking my usmle step 1 in 10 days, im getting very tired of lots of studying daily and feeling kinda sick,,, but after i did Goljan lectures i felt kinda good and bad,,good because i learned alot out of it and i see that its helping me and bad because its seems like i wasted lots of time reading patho from diferent places,,,  . so anyways, im in my final stage of studying and all what im doing is first aid, questions and going over Goljan notes over and over... please any thing that would help, let me know, as all of you, i need to pass this test and get it over with,,,, oh and my back is really killing me :? hope to hear from ya......

Hello saria23, I have about 20 days left until the exam. I, too, am working at a feverish pace to get as much info shoved into my head until then. I have been hitting First Aid hardcore these last couple of weeks. I routinely listen to Goljan and revise his notes over and over. (I had also fallen into the abyss of reading pathology from multiple sources, until reading posts in this forum channeled my efforts into strictly Goljan review). hmmm can i vote goljan plus first aid?  well, first aid is good at details- if you know them cold, you'll definitely crush the boards, but without goljan who puts them all together, you'll just go with memorization without understanding.
i'm in my last four weeks :shock: of review and all i'm doing now is goljan audio and first aid. i'm thinking of running the webprep for two weeks instead of going through kaplan notes, then questions first aid and goljan for my last two weeks. my scores are being inconsistent nowadays :cry: and i wonder why- tense, pressure? i think it's more of forgetting some hardcore facts! i'd better do a better job in retaining stuff then :roll: God speed to us!

I feel...exactly like you...I think--I mean, even my back hurts!!!
I think it's psychosomatic. This test is a real soul-torture. I failed the first one...I really need to pass this one. I just wanted to offer my support--I have 5 days to go myself. I have a diary on here if you're curious about more from me..I just have to say I don't really know what to study anymore--I'm just scrambling all around. But I suspect if you have Goljan and you haven't listened yet, that would be best, while reading his notes if possible. And do pharma and MMI and easily forgettable memorization type stuff at the end.
That's my scrambled egg strategy anyway...ouch, my egg (noggin) is very, very, very scrambled...Lets go both pass this test, OK?

ho guys and thanx for the support,, as for me, what i just finished goljan audio for the firt time today,, i did them slowely over a week and they were very helpful,,, now that i have 10 days left, whaat im doing is first aid, questions, and reading some notes i took myself from kaplan notes and here and there,,, as well reviewing some slids i got off the net and questions i saved from q back on line,, i think that was a good idea so i can re do them over and over, specialy pharmo and immuno,,,, GODDDDDDDDDDDDDD i wonna get over it and take a long vacation,,,
by the way,, i noticed something,, i dont know if anybody got that,, these last few days, im learning way more than ever, i mean seems like my stress hormone are really working good :lol: , anyways, good luck to all of ya and God be with us,,, as Dr.Goljan said,, these usmle people are idiotes and we can play there games better than them :? :?: :shock:
well time to hit the bed,,, by the way, how many hours are you guys studying? im doing about 15 :icon_sleep: a day and yes it is killing me but a few days left so its worth it... :icon_sleep:

Good plan Saria,
I think you have to repeat some of the Goljan Lectures...if you have time...Trust me -You will hear his voice in your head telling u the answers ....

There is something to be said for the stress immediately before the exam pushing you to extreme productivity. It is a real phenomenon. Should be covered in the behavioral science section!
