A 40-year-old woman discovers a breast mass during self-examinatin. At a routine health maintenance examination 2 months ago, her physician had told her all findings were normal. After having a mammogram that is suspicious for breast cancer, the patient begins to wonder if her physician failed to notice the lump during the examinatino 2 months ago. She is most likely to sue the physician under which of the following circumstances.

A) Occurrence of breast cancer
B) Poor communication between the patient and the physician
C) Potential financial reward for the patient
D) Strong pressure from family members

answer -b -because good communication is your only "weak" defense to avoid a law suit, also people think good communication is easy but Id say its can be difficult and takes years of experience.
The best talk:"Mrs X you did not and I did not feel anything on manual breast exam {I do not know if you do self breast exams,but you should}(give her literature on how to do a self exam)
some masses may not be picked up on manual exams so lets schedule you for a mammogram."

i'd pick choice 2 poor communication, but the scenario needs to be clarified.

maybe there was no lump when the physician examined her. it always starts from a nothing, and it might be that the lump grew up in two months.

but if the woman came to my office and i did not find anything on manual examinationa and the woman was less than 35 i wouldn't send her for a mammogram just because.
