know this is carbnic anhydrase inhibitor that decreases bicarb. why does it help with altitude sickness? if i am at high altitude, don't i have resp acidosis (increased CO2), low ph. wouldn't i want to keep my bicarb to increase ph?

at high altitude, u get resp alkalosis due to hyperventilation(low PO2 stimulates peripheral chemoreceptors)

renal compensation ==>loss of bicarb===>bring pH back to normal
so, CA inhibitors help in mountain sickness(by losing HCO3-)
