Hi everyone if you guys remember back to 3 weeks ago when i relayed my fears of the exam & my post exam experience i am glad to tell the forum that i got 237/96!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! i never expected it! Thanks for the forum help guys I will let you guys in on how i did it 2month revision period covering all the subjects. Only used one set of books...rapid review series by mosby. They are absolutely fab! I am still using them for step 2. For micro also used micro made ridiculusly easy For pharm tried katzung but gave me a headache with its super short chapters so i went with rapid review instead I did NOT use kaplan books at all except for epidemiology so guys if you are worried to spend the money buying the books don;t worry i did it & so can you Epidemiology......kinda did something unexpected here....i used kaplan's step 2cs notes for my epidemiology. It was very good to say the least. Question banks Kaplan Q bank i used for 1 month. score on it when i first started doing it was 60-70s. i never fell below the 60 mark. Towards the end i am getting 70s. Last test was an 84% but it wasn;t representative of all subjects ( i ran out of qs on some subjects) Robbins pathology - a very good q book to use for pathology. colour pics as well. Now i managed to squueze in 4 repeated revisions in the 2 months. Funny thing is i did not use first aid. It is a good book though and i almost panaicked when i didn't have time to get through it at all day before the exam. Whoohoooooo! 96% with 2 months of self study!!!!! If i can do it you can do too! Good luck everyone I will still be using the step 2 forums so hey if you have any qs i will help out in any way i can....in the spirit of those before me who have graciously halped me Thanks Ian

thanks guys no i did not attempt any other question thingy like NBME. I did try out usmleasy though. Did i think 4-5 papers in there & then just gave it up....i didn;t think there was enough focus in the material there for the usmle. In fact i believe the authors there might have been able to come up with the hardest question not because they are good qustions but rather beyond what we might need to know for the exam... wrt the correlation betw kaplan score & the final usmle score i really don;t know. It is an unreliable thing to judge what you will get in the usmle from kaplan...kaplan questions tend to be straightforward...usmle questions tend to twist simple concepts into tough questions.....i.e. mesh them all up & throw you a ball. also i am really wondering about ohw usmle scores us.... from my result sheet i read thus....the mean score is 217 & the sd is 23 so take two sds to make 95% & that would bring you to a question score of 263 to make into the 95 percentile.....i got 237 questions correct & my percentile is 96....it just doesn;t add up. hope it ain;t a software glitch lol.....i will fall down crying.

congrats!!! the two digit score inot a percentile, it's just a two digit number. 99 starts at a little higher than the beginning of the 2nd SD. so no worries! you did great!!! best of luck for the future!
