54 old woman with controlled DM 2 with oral hypoglycemics,has 2 week h/o swelling in the knees,stiffness in the morning and at bed times,pain and stiffness worsen with exertion,low dose iboprofen provides incomplete relief,why should we use larger dose of ibuprofen?
1.anti inflammatory dose is twice as analgesic
2.drug is excreted fast b'cos of DM
3.increasing dose extends half life
4.menopausal women metabolize drugs faster
5.oral hypoglycemics interfere with ibuprofen binding
