eukaryotic proteins that exist as a non membrane associated, glocosylated,di sulfide like dimer in teh mature form are found in which of the following

1.extracellular space

2.cytoplasm

3.mitochondrial matrix

4.nuclear matrix

5.nuclear pore

When I hear dimer i think of some kind of receptor- growth factor receptor,TCR,whatever - but of course these are membrane associated. My next guess was some kind of nuclear receptor (steroids) - but these I dont think are dimers.:?

So I did some web searching and realized the question was probably hinting at  IgA's which ofcourse exist as dimers in the extracellular space. And we all know that each Ig is held together by disulfide bonds between the LC and HC, and in the hinge between the HC's.

I have mixed feelings about this question...I like it's riddle-like approach but I think its way to vague to be on the USMLE, bcos think about it any of the first 4 answers can be true...
