the maternal component of placenta consists of the decidua basalis..ie a portion of endometrium
and the fetal component of placenta consist of villous chorion

right on!

it's fetal since its origin is the trophoblast -> a layer of extra-embryonic ectodermal tissue
it has 2 parts: cytotrophoblast and a outer syncytial layer called syntrophoblast. :shock:
