planning to stop working, have 3m0nths till the exam and have only covered physiolog and microbiolog. I have realy debated about this. I have a good research job , but have been here already for 2 years and not failed once. Ireally debated on leaving , but in the end i believe this is for the best. I would like to know anyone who has received these high grade were you studying full time. hopefully by doing this i will have a better chance of passing.

one of the guys from my class got a 91 in step1 and he was working full time at a research co, and is also married. he did kaplan books, first aid, and qbank. he also did his med school out of the country, but is a US citizen so he came back to the US to do his Steps. so far, he's doing good right now. he did the match after getting his step1 score and was offered residency positions while studying for step2. all that while in a full time research job, and a marriage degree to think that all odds were against him: he wasn't one of the top ten students from my class, he did the steps after four years of med school, a job, and a marriage, and oh... he is an IMG (a US citizen who did med school out of the country) i'm sure members of this forum who have the same situation as yours and made it will share their insights. God speed! :icon_bounce:

Hmm, well, I don't know how I did yet, other than I passed. I am working in research full time (60 hour work week). I wasted two years without studying, but I finally got down to it and did 2 months off and on and then two months studying every evening from 6-midnight and all weekend long. I even took off work for the last two weeks to study continuously. I have to say I found it quite hard to work and study effectively. By the end I was doing well on Kaplan questions (70s%) and the NBME (570), but I feel the test was harder than both. Not hard as in undoable, just that I didn't remember a lot of the tested material even though I know I had studied it. I have classmates that spent a year studying for each step and got 99s, but they better get that kind of a score after a year. I figure I won't do stellar, but hopefully my research will compensate for the lower score. So I can say I feel it was a hinderance to have kept working, but it can be done. Now watch me just pass after saying all this. My boss was understadning about all this though. He was willing to let me take off extra time if I needed it, but you end up feeling guilty about it. Good luck.!

I have two freinds working full time and have family and kid, they got 97% and 99%! with 6 month preparation. I am in the same situation, work, family, kid, 5 month to prepare... But I think with timed schedule and lots of DISPLINE, we can make it above 90. Don't sweat, just keep on going!

I did the same as u thinking about know, stopped working 2 month ago I realized that the 3-4 hours I used to study while I was working was much better than long hours study only, my concentration and feeling about myself and the exam was much better, however every individual has their own circumstances to me the beast option is part time job with study if possible even if u do so , make sure that u fix ur exam date before u quite the job good luck
