Hi gang!

In his hi-yield micro notes, Goljan p. 79 mentions bloody diarrhea from a traveller on return as likely amebiasis. Why not hemorrhagic E.coli??

Thanks for your thoughts.

P.S. No one has given me much feedback on the differences between
measles and German measles. Anyone feel like a try??

Thanks again!

i think travellers diarrhea due to E. coli is not hemorrhagoc, so i agree that its amebiasis as goljan says (of course goljan know better than me!!)

Haemorrhagic E.Coli is quite rare in a traveller, it is usually toxigenic e. coli which is the source of travellers diarrhoea (no blood).

they are right Hemorr E.Coli is not caused by travelling but eating Uncocked Ham (outbreaks in resturants).
about the diff b/w measle and rubella i should tell you clinically sometimes nothing!! except that measles starts from Head down and Menangitis is common. actually rubella can mimic measles or even Scarlet fever sometimes!!
i myself am looking for Difference b/w them if anyone knows anything more please tell us!

about measles (rubeolla) and rubella,

both cause rash, but rubella is milder and has a shorter course. it is characterized by postauricular LAP. measles is characterized by Koplik spot. besides, rubella is an important bug to cause cogenital infectoin, while measles is not.

it will be nice if someone can add 'roseolla' here for comparison. i dont know much about it.

Roseolla virus, a commom cause of infant virus infection. Clinical: high fever for about 3-5 days, then sunsides with rash appears on body, mainly trunck. That's all I know, correct me if wrong.

u r rite angie, its caused by HHV-6 which is a herpes virus. I think the roseola is also called exenthum subitum
