a. PTU less likely than Metimazol to cross through the Placenta but still care should be taken for it might cause this.

I thought PTU is the only drug approved for using in pregnancy. how come it's still dangerous to use? how can we prevent cretinism from happening in this case? do you have any idea?

good question. Katzung says "... should be used Cautiosly in Pregnant women.." which doesnt seem to imply any contraindication. however there are other substitutes for PTU such as Iodine or Iodine salts (which inhib Organification) or even B-blockers like Propranolol that not only resolve HTH symptomatically (e.g. Isolated systolic hBP) but also inhib 5`-Deiodinase peripharally (just like PTU).
