c is correct
Mash buddy Your reasoning is correct.
1) Essential body structures are formed by 2 months (embryonic period)
starting with the head in a cranial to caudal direction[cv,nervous,gi and
musculoskeletal]. The succeeding fetal period is for growth and
development.
2)I just discovered something- fetal alcohol syndrome may be a misnomer
because the defects M.R., low birth wt., cardiac and facial anomalies are due to early alterations in the "EMBRYONIC PERIOD" .
3)The early alterations in embryonic development such as chromosome changes (Downs) and prenatal damage due to toxins maternal ETOH consumption
are the most common predisposing factors for M.R. accounting for
30% of cases. Heredity account for 5%, pregnancy and perinatal accounts for 10%,
general medical conditions account for 5%, enviormental influences other then M.R. accounts for 20%. There is no clear etiology in 30%-40% of cases
